there's a saying
you've all heard it.
you can never go home again.
not that i'm calling the house i lived in during my most recent stretch in tahoe "home," but i did live there, with a crazy crazy girl who, among other things, got dragged off to jail for credit card fraud, mail fraud, and identity theft. also, her grandparents were there for a while. i have a photo of them that would make you all laugh so fucking hard you would die. maybe i'll put it at the bottom of this post.
anyway, i can never go back there and see all the crazy bear carvings, or the southwestern style mantle, or the built-in desks and shelving in the office where i found some serious evidence that i turned over to watson, or the entire general area where i recovered from my hilarious knee injury and subsequent surgery.
all that's left of the house at 773 mule deer circle is cinders. all that's left of the 200 houses around it is cinders. no way i created near as much weed ashes from sucking bong hits in my two years up in that hood.
my friend eddie is on one of the forest service firefighting teams out there trying to hold it down so people can go and get their drink and gamble on for the 4th of july.
cheer him on, because we all love to get drunk and gamble.
and think about how shit can just go up in flames.
it happens all the time.
houses aren't the only things that burn down either.
do you maintain defensible space?
stay safe out there, america.
you can never go home again.
